Crepes are delicious and absolutely simple to make. It's also a much better alternative to pancakes since it doesn’t contain any rising ingredients (ie baking soda, baking powder). I whipped this up in a few minutes to serve for brunch .
- flour - 1/2 cup
- egg - 1
- milk - 1/3 cup
- sugar - 1 tablespoon
- butter - for the pan (1 teaspoon per crepe)
- nutella - 1 tablespoon per crepe
- strawberries - 1/2 cup sliced
- bananas - 1 sliced
- whipped cream - as per your liking
Mix all the wet ingredients together and then gradually add the flour. It’s relatively fast and easy to beat that I didn’t even bother with an eggbeater (the time it would take for me to take it out and wash after surpasses the time it takes to beat it by hand with a whisk).
Set a pan on medium to high heat and drop about 1/2 a teaspoon of butter and pour in a ladle of the crepe mix and make it as round as possible (if you’ve poured dossais, then you’re a pro). Let it sit for about a minute and flip over (avoid brown-ing it too much, you do want it to look spotless).
Spread Nutella or other chocolate cream alternative on 1/3 (a 60 degree angle wedge) of the Crepe and then stack up slices of bananas and strawberries, then cover with the remainder of the crepe.
Garnish with strawberry sauce and whipped cream.
In a pan on medium heat, pour in about 5 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of sugar, once the sugar dissolves throw in a handful of chopped strawberries and let it simmer on low heat for about 7 minutes. Let it cool, throw it in a blender to puree, then sift the sauce and refrigerate before serving.
