Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. Even if I forget to eat or I'm in a rush, my growling stomach will constantly remind me to feed it. The usual toast tends to get boring after awhile and french toast is an easy breakfast to make. I've also come to the conclusion that going out to eat breakfast is a waste considering most breakfast items are the easiest, fastest and cheapest to make.
- eggs - 1
- milk - 1/2 cup
- toast - 2 slices (whole wheat or white)
- cinnamon - 1/4 teaspoon
- sugar - 1 teaspoon
- butter - 1 teaspoon
- maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- confectioners sugar - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
- fresh fruits - (optional)
Crack open the egg into a bowl and beat it in with the milk, cinnamon and sugar (you don’t need much sugar if you’re going to be topping it off with maple syrup and dusting confectioners sugar). Soak each slice one at a time for about 5 seconds on each side and throw it into a pan with 1 teaspoon of butter/margarine. Once it starts to brown after about a minute, flip it over to the other side.
Drizzle the french toast with maple syrup and dust it off with confectioners sugar on top. Have it with some fresh fruits on the side to get the additional vitamins. Who says you need to go to Cora's to get a nicely presented plate?
